Washinmura, a glamping village with a total of six rooms located in the satoyama (woodlands) of Futtsu, Chiba Prefecture, offers guests a relaxing experience surrounded by nature and animals, including a 200-year-old traditional Japanese folk house and 16 rescue cats.
During the day, guests can enjoy traditional outdoor experiences such as climbing slopes with woven baskets and exploring the forest. At night, visitors can relax by a campfire, often accompanied by sleeping cats, showcasing a typical day in the rural landscape.
The facility features a traditional folk house and a Nagayamon gate built approximately 200 years ago, along with scattered tents and 'snow peak Jyubako' mobile cabins. The site is home to various animals, including 15 free-roaming rescue cats, one cat living in the staff dormitory, goats, dogs, and a family of Silkie fowls.
Under the guidance of veterinarians, Washinmura strictly prohibits guests from bringing outside snacks for the animals to ensure their health. Instead, guests can purchase specially selected, additive-free, domestic snacks sold in limited quantities at the facility's shop.
Other facility rules note that cats roam freely across the premises, requiring caution from guests with allergies. The animals behave naturally and may not visit every room. All resident cats and dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for ticks. Information on availability and reservations can be found on their official website and Instagram (@washinmura_nature_glamping).
