fabula Inc. Executes Tokyo Metropolitan 'King Salmon Project' Selected Initiative in Malmö, Sweden

fabula Inc. (Tokyo; CEO: Kota Machida), a startup committed to 'creating inspiration from waste,' executed a local circular resource project in Malmö, Sweden under the Tokyo Metropolitan 'King Salmon Project - Overseas Urban Challenge Course.' The project comprised three phases: resource collection, material development, and demonstration exhibition. In the collection phase, approximately 200 kg of used coffee grounds were gathered from 8 café sites within Malmö and dried on-site. Using fabula's proprietary technology, the grounds were reformed into material plates, from which a drip stand and menu pop stand were fabricated. The menu pop stand was installed at a Malmö food court for a 2-day exhibition with customer interviews. A public unveiling event served coffee using the drip stand to visitors. Visitor surveys recorded a value enhancement score of 4.63/5 and repurchase intent of 4.75/5, validating the economic potential of converting food waste into experiential products. The project also attracted business inquiries from Swedish and neighboring-country enterprises. fabula plans to apply these overseas findings domestically by partnering with municipalities and regional organizations to expand circular product adoption in restaurants and commercial facilities, while also pursuing international business opportunities seeded by the Malmö demonstration.
