Funabashi Keiba will hold its 2nd racing event of Reiwa 8 from May 4 (Mon, Hol) to May 8 (Fri). During this event, we will host the "Kashiwa Kinen (JpnI)" [May 5 (Tue, Hol)] and the "Tokyo Bay Cup (SII)" [May 6 (Wed, Sub)].

The "Kashiwa Kinen" is positioned as the "Spring Dirt Mile Championship Race" where top horses from the JRA and local horse racing gather every year. In recent years, it is held annually during the Golden Week period and is the biggest JpnI race at Funabashi Keiba, recording the highest attendance, betting revenue, and prize money. Please look forward to this race where local Funabashi star horses like Casino Fontaine and Furioso have taken on central horses and created numerous legends.

This event is not only about racing but is full of events that the whole family can enjoy all day. We will hold numerous community-focused collaboration events teaming up with commercial facilities near Funabashi Racecourse and local sports teams, alongside giveaway campaigns for original Kashiwa Kinen merchandise. Also, before the event starts, special Kashiwa Kinen booths are scheduled to be set up at match venues of local sports teams.

By creating a new appeal through the unique entertainment value of Funabashi Keiba and community partnerships, we will provide the perfect destination for Golden Week outings.

## What is the Kashiwa Kinen (JpnI)?
Established in 1989 to commemorate the holding of the 1st Chiba Prefectural Horse Racing at Kashiwa Racecourse. High-level battles were fought by top-class horses from central and local horse racing, such as Abukuma Polo, Toshin Blizzard, and Sterling Rose. Since being upgraded to GI in 2005, JRA-affiliated horses often dominate the top results, with dirt stars like Espoir City, Hokko Tarumae, Copano Rickey, and Gold Dream claiming victories. However, horses from the local Funabashi Racecourse, such as Adjudi Mitsuo, Furioso, and Casino Fontaine, have also won, proving the high level of the locals. Among jockeys, former Funabashi-affiliated Takayuki Ishizaki holds the record for the most wins with a total of 6 victories. Tied for 2nd place are JRA-affiliated jockey Yutaka Take and former JRA-affiliated Tetsuzo Sato, with 3 wins each.
Last year, Shamal, ridden by jockey Yoshihiko Kawasu, brilliantly led the race wire-to-wire on a sloppy track to achieve consecutive victories.

## What is the Tokyo Bay Cup (SII)?
Established in 1987 as a 2,000m dirt graded race at Funabashi Racecourse for 4-year-olds (currently 3-year-olds) to pray for the start of construction of the Tokyo Bay Aqualine and the development of the Tokyo Bay line into the 21st century. Until the 17th event, it was held every December, acting as a festival race where horses that had won numerous graded races for 4-year-olds competed for their final graded race victory as a 4-year-old.
Since 2004, the timing was changed to May, and it was designated as a trial race for the Tokyo Derby (JpnI: Ohi Racecourse), granting priority entry rights for the Tokyo Derby to the winning horse. Former Funabashi-affiliated jockey Takayuki Ishizaki holds the record for most wins with 6, and together with the 2 wins by former Funabashi-affiliated jockey Shun Ishizaki, father and son have a total of 8 wins.
Last year, 3rd favorite Kenshin Rainbow (Funabashi, Trainer Yuta Sato), ridden by jockey Yuki Yamanaka, won the race.
