Every WiLL Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Toshiaki Sudo), which develops Japan's first 'Drop-off Spot: Toriiku', is pleased to announce that it has been selected as one of the 5 companies to pitch at the demo day (final results presentation) of 'TOKYO Co-cial IMPACT', a project organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government aiming to balance social impact and economic returns.
■ What is 'TOKYO Co-cial IMPACT'?
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is implementing the 'TOKYO Co-cial IMPACT*' project to promote co-creation between companies aiming for both 'sustainability (social impact)' and 'growth (economic return)', local governments, and large corporations to solve social issues.
This project is characterized by supporting startup companies that simultaneously pursue financial returns and social impact through cooperation and dialogue with administrative agencies.
*TOKYO Co-cial IMPACT
■ Background of participating in 'TOKYO Co-cial IMPACT'
Due to the rapid increase in parcel delivery accompanying the excessive penetration of the EC (online shopping, etc.) market and a severe shortage of drivers, an 'environment where packages can no longer be delivered' is becoming a reality.
The Cabinet Secretariat and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism have also designated the period up to 2030 as an intensive period for logistics reform, and are strongly promoting public-private partnerships to solve this serious social issue.
TOKYO Co-cial IMPACT supports companies tackling both the resolution of such serious social issues (sustainability) and business growth.
Our company was selected and invited to pitch because our innovative initiative to drastically reduce delivery destinations for drivers and eliminate redeliveries to zero by socially implementing our 'Drop-off Spot: Toriiku' was highly evaluated as a model for a startup pursuing financial return and social impact simultaneously.
Through participation in this project, we will further deepen co-creation with Tokyo and various municipalities, and strive to expand our service to contribute to the construction of a sustainable logistics network, in order to avoid the collapse of the social infrastructure of delivery that is so close to everyone's lives.
■ What is 'Toriiku'…?
It is Japan's first innovative service where users (parcel recipients) can safely and securely pick up their packages at their preferred time at 'Toriiku Spots' (unmanned 'drop-off spots') located along their daily routes, while accumulating electronic points.
Social Significance & Benefits for Drivers:
Delivery drivers can consolidate and deliver multiple packages to a single location, drastically reducing the number of delivery destinations. Furthermore, it is possible to reduce redeliveries of packages sent to Toriiku Spots to zero. This significantly improves delivery efficiency and contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by shortening the driving distance of delivery vehicles.
Benefits for Real Estate Owners Installing Toriiku:
They can utilize small, unused spaces (from 1.5 tsubo) in public facilities, stores, and properties to enhance the convenience of the location and increase foot traffic. It contributes to attracting more customers and revitalizing the local community.
User Benefits (Package Recipients):
Not only can they receive packages safely face-to-face at their convenience, but they also earn electronic point rewards every time they receive a package.
This leads to the eradication of current social issues such as theft of dropped-off packages, absence being exposed due to packages left outside, the stress of being confined at home waiting for hand-delivery, and the hassle of redelivery procedures.
Furthermore, this 'development of regional receiving bases supporting logistics' is a national policy that our country will newly focus on over the next few years, as outlined in the 'Comprehensive Logistics Policy Outline*' approved by the Cabinet on March 31 of this year.
In this outline, there is a goal to increase the usage rate of non-face-to-face home receipt methods to 50% or more by 2030.
*Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism: Comprehensive Logistics Policy Outline (FY2026-FY2030)
In this way, in alignment with national policies, our company will promote the spread of 'Toriiku Spots' as 'regional receiving bases supporting logistics'.
