The National Development Council of Taiwan (hereinafter referred to as the NDC), in collaboration with relevant ministries and industry partners, will participate in 'SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026', a leading innovation event held in Tokyo from April 27 to 29, 2026. This participation aims to further deepen cooperation between Japan and Taiwan and strengthen the startup ecosystem.
At this exhibition, centered on the national startup brand 'Startup Island TAIWAN' promoted by the NDC, and in cooperation with partners such as the Ministry of Economic Affairs Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration - Startup Terrace, and Taiwan Stock Exchange, 27 promising Taiwanese startups will be supported in their entry into Japan. The largest venue, the 'Taiwan Pavilion,' will be set up to promote the competitiveness of Taiwanese startups in AI, sustainability, and deep tech fields internationally.
According to the NDC, in addition to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Taiwan Stock Exchange, this exhibition will involve various partners including the New Taipei City Government, Food & Food Tech Accelerator, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Industry Accelerator and Patent Strategy Center (IAPS), and CDIB Capital Group, to undertake the following initiatives:
■ Enhancing the International Presence of Taiwanese Startups
Through conference presentations, Taiwan's innovation resources will be introduced, focusing on themes such as the current status of Taiwanese startups and investment, the 'AI New Top 10 Construction' policy initiatives, and the Taiwanese capital market. Furthermore, major media outlets, including Nikkei and TV Tokyo, will be invited to expand international exposure.
■ Deepening Trust and Collaboration between Japan and Taiwan
Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) are scheduled to be signed between the Ministry of Economic Affairs Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration and Taiwanese smart mobility-related companies, and Japanese ecosystem partners. Through the sharing of insights from industry partners such as NTT East, Mighty Net Accelerator, and BE Accelerator, further opportunities for collaboration between Japan-Taiwan startups and companies will be created.
■ Accelerating Japan-Taiwan Business Collaboration
Major Japanese general trading companies, including Mitsubishi Group, leading financial institutions such as Mizuho Bank and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and large corporations like JR East, will be invited to the Taiwan Pavilion to create business opportunities and promote business matching.
Furthermore, to further promote the globalization of the Taiwanese startup ecosystem, 'Startup Island TAIWAN' will host the 'Asia MirAI Day,' an Asia-Pacific regional ecosystem collaboration event. Partners from various Asian countries including Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam will gather to share market entry experiences and resource insights, aiming to strengthen regional collaboration.
