The power plants are located in the Sidi Bouzid and Tozeur governorates of Tunisia, with grid connection capacities of 50,000kW (60,000kWp*1) each, totaling 100,000kW (120,000kWp). Together, these two power plants will supply electricity equivalent to the consumption of approximately 120,000 general households in Tunisia and are expected to reduce CO2 emissions by up to approximately 108,000 tons annually.

Operations will be managed by a project company in which AEOLUS holds a 49% stake and Scatec ASA (hereinafter “Scatec”), a Norwegian renewable energy operator, holds 51%. Electricity will be sold based on a 30-year power purchase agreement with the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG).

Furthermore, both power plants have been selected for the FY2023 “Equipment Subsidy Project under the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Financing Program*2” implemented by the Ministry of the Environment.

Under its corporate philosophy of “contributing to global environmental conservation through the dissemination and expansion of clean energy,” the Eurus Energy Group will continue to contribute to the spread of clean and low-cost renewable energy in Africa through AEOLUS, and further expand its wind and solar power generation efforts, thereby contributing to global environmental conservation and the creation of a sustainable society.

*1 Watt-peak. The maximum DC output power of a solar cell module.

*2 A project that implements activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in developing countries, etc., by utilizing excellent decarbonization technologies, etc., and conducts measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV). The purpose is to contribute to the achievement of greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for Japan and partner countries through JCM, along with reducing greenhouse gases in developing countries, etc. Subsidies are provided up to half of the initial investment cost for excellent decarbonization technologies, etc. This project is implemented under the cooperation of the Tunisian government and the Japanese government.
