Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Tetsuya Suwabe, hereinafter 'the Company') has begun construction work on the grid storage facility 'Eurus Shiranuka Battery Park' (Rated output: 30,000 kW, Storage capacity: 143,043 kWh) in Shiranuka Town, Shiranuka-gun, Hokkaido, starting March 30, 2026.

Toward realizing carbon neutrality by 2050, while the expansion and shift to renewable energy (hereinafter 'renewables') as main power sources progress, the instability of the supply-demand balance due to output fluctuations of wind and solar power generation, which are affected by season and weather, has become an issue. The necessity of grid storage batteries is increasing as an adjustment capacity that can respond to these fluctuations.

Our corporate group has been working on the energy storage business for the popularization of renewables and the stabilization of the power grid, having developed four grid storage facilities domestically and two overseas (including those under construction) so far. Furthermore, we are performing optimal operation of the storage facilities through multi-use control utilizing our proprietary VPP platform, 'ReEra'.

This storage facility was adopted for the 'FY2024 Subsidy for the Introduction of Power Storage Systems such as Grid Storage Batteries for the Expansion of Renewable Energy Introduction' by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, making it our fifth domestic and second Hokkaido grid storage facility. It consists of lithium-ion batteries with a rated output of 30,000 kW and a storage capacity of 143,043 kWh, and commercial operation is scheduled to start in December 2028. After operations commence, we plan to control and operate the storage batteries utilizing 'ReEra'.

Under the corporate philosophy of 'Helping to preserve the global environment by disseminating and expanding clean energy technologies', our group will continue to contribute to global environmental preservation and the creation of a sustainable society by working on the stable supply of electricity utilizing grid storage batteries, in addition to the further expansion of wind and solar power generation.
