For a third party to obtain umbilical cords as a raw material, complex preparations are required, including contracts with medical institutions, stable securing of donors, notification to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare through an ethics review committee, and establishing safe storage and transportation processes. Due to these high hurdles compared to other raw materials, not many intermediate businesses or companies use umbilical cords as conditioned medium raw material.
