Our organization supports April Dream, an initiative to make April 1st a day to send out dreams. This press release is the dream of "NPO SKY.".

NPO SKY (S-K-Y) confronts the inherent human condition of "loneliness" and aims to realize a society where everyone can live "their own life" through the irreplaceable connections woven between humans and animals, and among humans themselves.

■ Loneliness is Proof of Connection

Humans live in loneliness. We are always alone when we are born and when we die. Amidst this, humans seek the meaning of their existence, asking "What was I born for?" and "What is the meaning of life?", getting lost and living.

In the masterpiece "The Little Prince," the fox taught the prince the meaning of "taming" (becoming friends). The one with whom a bond is formed becomes a unique, special being in the world, and just seeing golden wheat fields makes one happy, remembering the prince's hair color. However, when they can no longer meet, one feels lonely in their absence.

We believe: Isn't the heart that feels "lonely" actually the greatest proof that we are "not alone"?

The fact that we can think of someone and feel lonely in their absence means that a firm connection with someone is etched in our hearts. We want to be close to such painful human efforts. If we can provide "encouragement" for living with loneliness, humans should be able to live their lives as "their own lives.".

The bond with animals, who do not communicate through words, is precisely the relationship of "taming and being tamed." Through interaction with pets, we feel the warmth of life and regain the ability to find "something precious" in the world. We will create support spaces where people can rediscover the meaning of life.

We will produce spaces where people who meet at that time and place can feel a deep connection within a fleeting encounter. Even if it's a once-in-a-lifetime meeting, if something is etched in our hearts, the view of the future changes. That realization turns into the courage to live tomorrow.

■ Our Journey So Far: Achievements in Community-Based "Loneliness and Isolation Countermeasures"

Since 2023, NPO SKY has been operating the "Men's Second Career Academy" as a concrete social implementation to prevent loneliness and isolation.

Through three years of activity, we have created new roles and places for those who tend to become isolated after retirement or due to changes in their environment. Living beyond existing frameworks (no border), freely (all free), and flexibly (easily). The many smiles and connections born in this academy are the driving force behind our activities.

Our goal is not just individual mental stability. It is a future where we can live in harmony with society formed by humans, and with the world and environment formed by non-humans, without boundaries, freely, and flexibly.
