Nagoya Kanko Hotel was established on December 16, 1936, following a proposal in 1928 by the then chairman of the Nagoya Rotary Club to build an international-class hotel in Nagoya, with the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry playing a central role in the hotel construction plan. Subsequently, in December 1972, a new wing began operations as an international-class hotel boasting the tallest height in Nagoya at the time (81.5m).
