Epson Sales Japan Corporation will release the “DS-787W,” a new A4 document scanner, on May 28, 2026. Digitizing paper documents has become part of daily operations, especially for SOHOs, sole proprietors, and employees handling individual workflows within companies. In addition to accounting documents such as invoices and receipts, the number of documents requiring management and processing, including contracts, delivery slips, and business records, continues to increase each year. Against this backdrop, the DS-787W significantly improves scanning speed and paper feed capacity compared with the previous DS-571W model. It enables stable digitization even during busy periods or when large volumes of documents need to be processed. The scanner also supports the well-received PC-less function, allowing users to complete scanning, saving, and sharing using only the device itself. Users can scan immediately on-site without starting a PC. In addition to meeting workplace needs for quick scanning, the product can send data to network folders, cloud services, email, and other destinations, helping reduce management workload and support smooth data sharing and handoff. By combining ease of personal use with flexible data sharing suited to business needs, the DS-787W makes document digitization more convenient for SOHOs, sole proprietors, and individual users within companies, contributing to improved operational efficiency. Key features of the new product include improved work efficiency through high-speed scanning and large-capacity paper feeding; smooth data sharing through PC-free scanning operation; and support for diverse digitization needs through broad document compatibility and excellent feeding functions. The DS-787W supports simultaneous duplex scanning and achieves high-speed scanning of 45 sheets per minute / 90 images per minute for A4 documents. By improving scanning speed over the previous model, it reduces the time required to digitize documents. Its paper feed capacity of up to 100 sheets also enables smooth batch scanning of large document volumes, helping improve operational efficiency. The scanner is equipped with a large 4.3-inch touch panel and can be operated without a PC. Scanned data can be sent or saved directly to preset network folders, cloud services, email, USB drives, and other destinations. Because PC operation is unnecessary, anyone at the worksite can use it easily, helping prevent scanning tasks from becoming dependent on specific individuals. The DS-787W supports a wide range of media, from thin documents such as receipts, thin slips, and cards to thicker originals such as driver’s licenses. With an optional carrier sheet, it can also scan A3 and B4-size documents. Since documents of different sizes and types can be scanned together, it can be used broadly for everyday operations as well as digitizing special documents. The scanner also includes a document protection function that stops scanning if stapled paper is fed. If sensors detect an abnormality during scanning, reading stops to help prevent document damage caused by paper jams.
