LAWSON UNITED CINEMA Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Toshihide Shimizu), a subsidiary of LAWSON Entertainment Co., Ltd., announces that on Friday, August 7, 2026, the theater currently known as 'United Cinema Kishiwada' will be renamed 'LAWSON UNITED CINEMA Kishiwada'. Alongside the name change, the company will introduce the immersive 4D theater attraction '4DX'. With this addition, LAWSON UNITED CINEMA will operate 23 4DX theaters nationwide—the highest number in Japan. (As of July 1, 2026, according to LAWSON UNITED CINEMA Co., Ltd.)

Further, in line with the LAWSON Group's philosophy of 'We make the town where everyone lives a happier place,' the company aims to promote local charm and create new experiential value by collaborating with Kishiwada's iconic cultural event—the 'Kishiwada Danjiri Festival'—and 4DX technology. Prior to the main feature film, a special 4DX short film titled 'Danjiri 4DX' will be screened, combining footage of the festival with immersive 4D effects.

The 'Kishiwada Danjiri Festival,' with over 300 years of history in Kishiwada City, Osaka Prefecture, is renowned for its thrilling 'Yarimawashi'—where massive, approximately 4-ton danjiri (floats) are pulled at high speed and sharply turned at right angles. In the special 4DX short film 'Danjiri 4DX,' powerful visuals of the danjiri, including the 'Yarimawashi,' will be synchronized with motion seats, vibrations, water sprays, wind, and other 4D effects, delivering an intense, lifelike experience as if you were right in the middle of the festival. Additionally, specially filmed footage from the perspective of the carpenters riding atop the danjiri will offer an extreme sense of presence rarely experienced in daily life.
