NIPPON STEEL ENGINEERING Co., Ltd. (President and Representative Director: Yukito Ishiwa, Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter "NIPPON STEEL ENGINEERING") and Mizuho Toshiba Leasing Company, Limited (President and Representative Director: Takanori Nishiyama, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter "Mizuho Toshiba Leasing") jointly announced that they have been awarded an on-site energy supply project at Ajinomoto Co., Inc.'s (Director, Representative Executive Officer, President & CEO: Shigeo Nakamura, Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter "Ajinomoto") Tokai Plant. Ajinomoto operates three plants in Japan*, and with the award of this project, NIPPON STEEL ENGINEERING and Mizuho Toshiba Leasing have now successfully introduced cogeneration systems to all of Ajinomoto's domestic plants.

This project involves the introduction of a highly energy-efficient gas turbine combined cogeneration system, which is expected to reduce CO2 emissions at Ajinomoto's Tokai Plant by approximately 10% compared to previous levels, thereby making a significant contribution to global warming countermeasures. Under its aspiration to "Contribute to the Well-being of all human beings, society and our planet with AminoScience®," the Ajinomoto Group is advancing various initiatives to achieve both "50% reduction in environmental impact" and "extension of healthy life expectancy for 1 billion people" by 2030. This project has been adopted as part of these efforts.
