Towards a Decarbonized Society in 2050! Recruitment Begins for Joint Procurement to Introduce Renewable Energy for Businesses, in Collaboration with 33 Municipalities in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area

Enerbank Inc. (Co-founders and Representative Directors: Shogo Sato, Kenichi Muranaka; Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo) announced that it will begin recruiting participants for the Tokyo Metropolitan Area Renewable Energy Joint Procurement Project on May 11, 2025, targeting consumers whose electricity supply is scheduled to start from April 2027. This project utilizes the electricity reverse auction "Ene-Oku" and other tools to support the procurement of renewable energy-derived electricity and non-fossil certificates, which can be used to comply with the Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures and the Energy Conservation Act, as well as international environmental goals and reporting systems such as SBT and RE100.

Overview of the Tokyo Metropolitan Area Renewable Energy Joint Procurement Project
This project is a mechanism where multiple businesses jointly purchase electricity, creating economies of scale compared to individual purchases, and enabling the introduction of renewable energy at a lower cost.
This year, new municipalities such as Shibuya Ward, Nakano Ward, Sumida Ward, Kiyose City, Kasukabe City, and Hadano City have joined, expanding the network of collaborating municipalities to 33. Under the broad collaboration of 33 municipalities in the Tokyo metropolitan area, we aim to achieve regional decarbonization and a decarbonized society by 2050.

Even if a business is located in an area not included in the collaborating municipalities, it can participate in this project if its business location is within the Tokyo Electric Power Grid service area.

Achievements of the Tokyo Metropolitan Area Renewable Energy Joint Procurement Project
In the Tokyo Metropolitan Area Renewable Energy Joint Auction conducted in FY2025, participating businesses selected plans with a renewable energy ratio of 30% to 100%, achieving the introduction of renewable energy electricity. The average cost reduction rate for businesses that switched to renewable energy electricity was 16.0% for high-voltage and 9.7% for low-voltage, achieving both electricity bill suppression and renewable energy introduction.
