Towards a Decarbonized Society by 2050! Gifu Prefecture Launches 2026 Project to Introduce Renewable Energy for Local Businesses

Enerbank Co., Ltd. (Co-founders and Representative Directors: Shogo Sato, Kenichi Muranaka; Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo), in collaboration with Gifu Prefecture, will begin recruiting participants for the Gifu Prefecture Renewable Energy Joint Purchase Project from May 11, 2026, targeting consumers scheduled to start electricity supply from April 2027. This project utilizes the electricity reverse auction 'Ene-Oku' to support the procurement of renewable energy-derived electricity, which can also be used to comply with the Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures and the Energy Conservation Act, as well as international environmental goals and reporting systems such as SBT, CDP, and RE100.

This project adopts a mechanism where multiple businesses jointly purchase electricity, creating economies of scale compared to individual purchases, thereby enabling the introduction of renewable energy at a lower cost. In collaboration with Gifu Prefecture, we aim to achieve regional decarbonization and a decarbonized society by 2050.

In the Gifu Prefecture Renewable Energy Joint Purchase Project implemented in FY2025, participating businesses selected plans with a renewable energy ratio of 30% to 100% and successfully introduced renewable energy electricity. The average cost reduction rate for businesses that switched to renewable energy was 25.1% for high-voltage and 8.1% for low-voltage, achieving both electricity cost suppression and renewable energy introduction.
