Children in Himeji learn about community, work, and money to build a society where they can realize their dreams

We support 'April Dream,' a project that encourages companies to share their dreams on April 1st. This press release represents the dream of Enbridge Co., Ltd. Enbridge Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: 2-56 Kaminoda, Shikama-ku, Himeji, Hyogo; CEO: Yutaro Yamada) announces the 2026 session (3rd) of the 'Junior Economy College Himeji' and the hosting of the 'Junieco Summit' in Himeji in the winter of 2027. What is Junior Economy College? It is a program that fosters 'individuals who can decide and act for themselves' through business experience. 5th and 6th graders establish mock companies to experience the entire cycle of planning, procurement, manufacturing, sales, accounting, and tax payment. Through this real experience without a 'correct answer,' they learn to think and decide for themselves. What children taught us in the past two sessions: Over three months, they clashed as a team to create products, raised funds through presentations to shareholders, and took on the challenge of sales. Whether they made a profit or cried over a deficit, everyone learned the 'difficulty of earning money' and 'gratitude toward workers' through their own bodies. This is an experience you can never get from a textbook. Our Dream: In Himeji, the program is operated by a voluntary group of local business owners. This is a unique form, different from other national cases centered on Chambers of Commerce and Industry. While we lack funds, our freedom and speed of action are our weapons. We are now starting a project for high school students in collaboration with local high schools. We believe high schoolers can achieve even higher levels of learning. We want to increase the number of children from Himeji who can draw their dreams and play an active role in society after understanding their community, companies, work, and money. In the winter of 2027, we will host the 'Junieco Summit' in Himeji, where comrades from all over the country will gather. Through the summit, we want to spread the word about Junieco and find more allies. We want the children of Himeji to lead better lives, make Himeji prosperous, and realize a happy community for everyone. That is our dream. 2026 Junieco: The 3rd session is confirmed.
