ELYZA Works Launches "Subsequent App Settings Function" to Connect Multiple AI Apps with Human Judgment and Information Addition

ELYZA Inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo, hereinafter ELYZA), the provider of the generative AI utilization tool "ELYZA Works" for corporations, has launched a new function called "Subsequent App Settings Function" (hereinafter, this function). This function allows users to link multiple business AI apps and construct a sophisticated series of business processes by incorporating human judgment and information additions in between.

Previously, the mainstream approach to utilizing generative AI was to consolidate tasks into a single prompt or app to obtain the final output in one go. Currently, there is a globally growing expectation for "AI agents" that can think autonomously and execute tasks.

However, for complex tasks requiring multiple steps or long processing times in actual corporate operations (long-horizon tasks), there are tasks that cannot be handled by batch processing, such as "the inability to control quality without visibility into intermediate progress" or "the desire to add human judgment and specific context (urgency, business strategy, etc.) to the AI's initial output before proceeding to the next stage." It has been extremely difficult to consistently produce high-quality deliverables that are useful in practical business settings.

This function enables "business workflows that proceed with human judgment in between" by combining created business AI apps. Users can confirm and revise the output of the first app, and then transfer the necessary information to the next app with a single button click. This allows for the construction of workflows for long-horizon tasks using no-code by breaking down large tasks into microtasks, improving the quality of each based on feedback, and then connecting them sequentially or in parallel.

ELYZA will continue to expand its range of supported business domains and further accelerate the citizen development of business AI apps driven by the front lines, by realizing an environment where front-line staff can easily create and utilize their own business AI apps.

Overview of this Function

This function allows users to link and configure multiple business AI apps, enabling them to relay processing in stages according to task progress and accuracy. A large business workflow can be broken down into business AI apps of appropriate units (microtasks) for operation. At each step, humans can confirm "Is this correct so far?" and provide feedback, revisions, or input additional information based on on-site knowledge, dramatically improving the quality of the final deliverable.

Normally, data processing is required for input to subsequent apps, but with this function, there is no need for data manipulation, copying, or pasting. After the user executes the first app (App A), they simply select the "section to pass to the next app" from the output results, and the LLM automatically assigns the content to the input fields of the subsequent app (App B). Furthermore, it can be executed sequentially like "App A → B → C → D," allowing for flexible handling of "handoff type" business workflows where different individuals are responsible for the first and second halves of the process, as well as for selecting the next step based on the situation (branching). Multiple subsequent apps can be set up, and the execution results of one app can be deployed for various purposes.

Use Cases for this Function

This function is applicable not only to specific tasks but also to diverse business processes across departments such as contact centers, sales, legal affairs, finance and accounting, and human resources. It demonstrates the greatest effect in tasks where the quality of the final deliverable is improved by "human confirmation, judgment, and additional input during the process, rather than proceeding directly to the final output from the initial input."

Future Outlook

ELYZA has been working on updating ELYZA Works as a "tool that can be created on-site, used by teams, and utilizes generative AI," aiming for the social implementation of business AI app development driven by the front lines.

The previous feature update, "Official AI Agent," enabled the automation of accurate numerical processing and data analysis through program execution. The "Subsequent App Settings Function" being launched now is a milestone function for AI-agentifying complex and large-scale business operations (long-horizon tasks) within companies.

While an "AI that can do anything with a single request prompt" is ideal, in practical business settings, there are cases where prompt engineering is difficult or the execution results do not meet the required quality. We believe that correctly decomposing tasks, improving the accuracy of each microtask based on front-line feedback, and smoothly connecting them is the only approach to creating truly "practically useful AI agents."
