Furthermore, it prevents fraudulent use through facial recognition using IC chip reading and passive liveness detection.

## Background
Liquid has now provided "Method D (*1)" of its online identity verification service "LIQUID eKYC" to the MVNO service "Daredemo Mobile". "Method D" is an identity verification method that combines reading the IC chip of an identity verification document with taking a picture of the user's face for facial recognition.

This enables the identity verification process to be completed online, achieving shorter review times and reduced man-hours for both customers and support staff. Previously, it was necessary to upload or mail identity verification documents such as a My Number card or driver's license to be received.

Additionally, because facial recognition is now performed using passive liveness detection (*2), it prevents circumvention methods by attackers, such as deepfakes, which can occur with active liveness detection (*3). This provides more robust security and prevents fraudulent use.

*3 Determining whether the image transmitted by the end-user is a photograph taken during the identity verification process, rather than a pre-recorded photo, by requiring the end-user to perform actions such as shaking their head or blinking.
