Chisa Squirrel Boys' Festival Eitaro Ame and Kaju Ame

Eitaro Sohonpo's flagship product, "Eitaro Ame," and its "Kaju Ame" (fruit juice candy), made with domestic fruits and free from artificial fragrances and colors, have collaborated with illustrator Chisa Fujioka.

For this eighth installment, the limited-edition Boys' Festival (Tango no Sekku) packaging features adorable squirrels, hedgehogs, turtles, and various other animals energetically enjoying the Boys' Festival, as drawn by Chisa Fujioka.

◆ Comments from Chisa Fujioka
Red Box [Eitaro Ame]
I designed it with squirrels cheerfully dancing while riding on carp streamers to celebrate the Boys' Festival. There is a squirrel holding a Japanese flag fan while wearing a samurai helmet, and another holding a kashiwa-mochi (oak leaf rice cake). I hope people enjoy their unique and joyful expressions and poses.

Yellow-Green Box [Kaju Ame]
On "Children's Day," squirrel brothers wearing paper samurai helmets excitedly going out to catch bugs look very childlike and adorable. In the spring scenery of May, where irises bloom and swallows fly, a raccoon dog and a fox are flying in the sky riding on carp streamers. Comical little creatures like frogs, snails, and snakes are also celebrating together. I drew this fun scene.

■ About Eitaro Sohonpo...
Founded in 1818 (the 1st year of the Bunsei era). A Japanese confectionery manufacturing and sales company headquartered in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. The company name originates from Eitaro (later Yasubee Hosoda III), who opened the Nihonbashi main store in 1857 (the 4th year of the Ansei era). It boasts the oldest history in Japan as a candy maker belonging to the National Candy Manufacturers Cooperative Association. In addition to candies, it handles fresh sweets, yokan, baked sweets, and anmitsu. They also operate specialized brands based on concepts such as "Ameya Eitaro" (specializing in candy), "Nihonbashi Eitaro" (casual packaging), "Tokyo Peasen" (Tokyo souvenirs), and "Karada ni Eitaro" (health-conscious). Business partners range widely from department stores, mass retailers, and transportation hubs to shrines and temples. With a corporate culture that reveres "learning from the past to create the new," both traditional techniques and equipment alongside the latest machinery remain in active use at the manufacturing site.
