### Story to Go on
Somewhere in the world, someone is standing still today.
In the silence after an earthquake.
In the middle of a conflict that never ends.
In isolation where they cannot even raise their voice.
In such times, they happen to notice a book. Turning the pages, they find the story of someone who was similarly hurt but started walking anyway. That person realizes:
'I was not alone.'
Stories have a mysterious power. It is the power to empathize with others' pain, to put one's own pain into words, and to illuminate a step toward an unseen tomorrow.
Reading, listening, and sharing stories.
Through these activities, people can re-weave their own life stories. Even with disabilities, even with language differences, even after losing everything.
We believe that a 'Story to Go on' should be by everyone's side.
With books and stories in hand, Efa Japan will continue to walk together in 2026.
### Vision: From 'My Own Story' to 'Story to Go on'
Efa's vision is 'A society where all children can develop their potential and creativity to draw their Own Story.' 'My Own Story' refers to the narrative of each individual living their life and carving out their future even in the face of difficulties.
The 2026 slogan 'Story to Go on' takes this vision one step further. To draw 'My Own Story,' one first needs the strength to take one more step from the place where they are standing still.
Encountering someone else's story of pain and recovery supports that step. Eventually, that person begins to draw their 'Own Story.' This slogan represents our determination to stay close to that very first step.
### The 'Power of Stories' Shared Locally and Globally
Since its establishment in 2004, Efa has been working on education and welfare support through library creation and reading promotion in Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.
We continue to challenge the 'Book Famine,' a situation where schools and libraries have been destroyed by civil war, and books accessible to children with disabilities account for less than 1% of publications.
On the other hand, following the Noto Peninsula earthquake in January 2024, we started support activities in Japan. Through the 'Okunoto Running! Book Cafe,' which visits places where people gather, such as temporary housing, we deliver books and stories to those affected by the disaster.
Children gathering in libraries in countries that have experienced civil war, and people picking up a book in temporary housing—even if the locations and situations differ, the act of encountering a story, putting one's pain into words, and taking one more step remains the same. 'Story to Go on' carries Efa's will to connect these activities across borders.
