[EU Business Hub Event Report] Accelerating the Green Energy Transition: EU Business Hub Exhibits for the 3rd Time at Smart Energy Week Spring 2026

The EU Business Hub is an EU-funded initiative aimed at creating new business opportunities and collaborations between EU small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) / startups and Japanese companies in the fields of digital solutions, green and low-carbon technologies, and healthcare and medical equipment. Through business missions, it supports the internationalization, export, and investment activities of EU companies, aiming to build more resilient, sustainable, and technologically advanced value chains with the Japanese market, and also contributes to the smooth realization of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). Each business mission is organized around major exhibitions related to priority sectors, and participating companies are carefully selected based on criteria such as product/technological capabilities, resources, and business strategies.

"Smart Energy Week Spring 2026," one of Asia's leading comprehensive energy exhibitions, attracted over 63,000 visitors and featured approximately 1,500 exhibiting companies, serving as an unparalleled platform for international collaboration. Several dignitaries visited the EU Green Transition Pavilion, reaffirming the importance of its mission. Visitors included the Irish delegation led by Minister of State Seán Canney, Irish Ambassador to Japan Damien Cole, and Ambassador of the European Union to Japan Jean-Eric Paquet. These visits underscored the significance of cooperation between the EU and Japan while further solidifying the EU's role as a trusted partner in Japan's clean energy transition.

During the business mission, the EU Business Hub provided participating companies with tailored support tailored to their needs, including on-site coaching, professional interpretation assistance, and highly effective networking opportunities. Highlights included a dedicated matchmaking event at the Tokyo Innovation Base and a joint networking reception co-hosted with the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation, RX Japan, and JETRO at Tokyo Big Sight. These events were held with the aim of bringing together diverse stakeholders, including representatives from embassies of various EU member states, the Japanese government (central and local), companies from across Japan, and key players in the Japanese private sector.

The EU Business Hub is a business matching initiative led by the Delegation of the European Union to Japan.
