ECC Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Osaka; President: Masahiro Hanabusa; hereinafter, ECC), a comprehensive education and lifelong learning institution, and Efekta Education Ltd. (Headquarters: London; President Schools and Enterprises: Peter Burman; hereinafter, Efekta) have entered into a business partnership for new initiatives in global human resource development.
As the first step, they will launch the online English learning service "ECC Online Hyper Lessons" (hereinafter, the Service) on July 1, 2026 (Wednesday).
This Service combines the cutting-edge learning technology and global standard learning platform provided to over 24 million people worldwide by Efekta, a group company of EF (Education First), one of the world's largest private education institutions that operates experiential learning programs in over 110 countries, with ECC's "teaching methods for Japanese learners" and "coaching-style guidance" cultivated over its 60-plus year history.
The greatest feature is that "ECC instructors," who are well-versed in the weaknesses and stumbling blocks of Japanese learners, will conduct all online lessons. By combining global standard technology with "ECC's teaching prowess," the aim is to create learning opportunities for 25,000 people by 2028.
■ Purpose of the Partnership
As society's globalization accelerates, English proficiency has become a crucial skill that broadens future options. Meanwhile, in the field of English learning, "low learner retention rates" and "difficulty in seeing results" have been long-standing challenges.
In a "Survey on the English Skills of Working Adults"*1 conducted by ECC in March 2026 (targeting 300 general employees and 300 managers, a total of 600 people who want to learn English for work), "talking with an instructor" and "role-playing assuming actual work situations" ranked high as effective learning methods.
Against this backdrop, "ECC Online Hyper Lessons" has optimized its service to a form where Japanese learners can easily achieve results by leveraging the knowledge gained from ECC's track record of teaching over 9.5 million students*2, based on Efekta's educational and learning platform.
In addition to creating practical output opportunities, this service aims to solve the long-standing challenges of "improving learner retention" and "visualizing results" by combining process visualization and continuous support for learning.
