Earth Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Katsunori Kawabata; hereinafter 'Earth Corporation') has newly opened the 'Netsu Care' (Heat Care) website. This is the second phase of the 'QOF (Quality of Furo) Improvement Project,' designed to improve the 'Quality of Furo (bathing)' for busy modern people. The goal is to share research findings on the relationship between 'bathing and heatstroke' with more consumers and contribute to reducing the risk of heatstroke in society as a whole.

In recent years, the number of 'summer days,' 'mid-summer days,' and 'extreme heat days' has been increasing in Japan due to rising temperatures. Along with this, the number of heatstroke patients is also increasing, which has become a serious social issue. In addition, the period during which people must be careful of heatstroke is expanding. In particular, it is becoming increasingly important to be vigilant against 'unseasonable heatstroke' from early spring when the body is not yet accustomed to the heat.
On this website, we will contribute to reducing people's heatstroke risk by publishing research results focusing on the mechanisms of heatstroke and the usefulness of 'bathing habits' in heatstroke countermeasures. In addition, we will continue to publish various latest research results in sequence.

Continuous bathing may prevent heatstroke from becoming severe
Regarding the relationship between the frequency of bathing from June onwards and the severity of heatstroke, it was found that people who bathe 3 times a month or less are significantly associated with a higher severity of heatstroke compared to those who bathe 3 times a week or more. From this, it became clear that continuous bathing habits have the potential to lower the risk of heatstroke becoming severe.
[Survey Overview] This result is a graph created by calculating the proportion of severe cases per bathing frequency based on the following survey results.
Survey method: Internet survey (2022 Summer Bath Life Fact-finding Survey, 2,331 men and women aged 15-69)
Analysis method: Logistic regression analysis
Objective variable: Presence or absence of severe heatstroke (emergency transport or going to the hospital was considered 'severe,' and everything else was considered 'not severe.')
Explanatory variables: Bathing frequency (3 times a month or less, 1-2 times a week, 3 times a week or more), age (15-69 years old), sex (male, female), region
Results: Those who bathed 3 times a week or more had a significantly lower odds ratio of severe heatstroke compared to those who bathed 3 times a month or less (OR: 0.47, 95% CI: 0.23-0.97), suggesting that the risk of severe heatstroke may be reduced.

In the modern world, where people are so busy that they are losing even the time to soak in a bathtub, Earth Corporation faced the reality that the harder working people work, the more they put their own self-care on the back burner.
'We want people to regain the healing power of bathing once more.' The 'QOF (Quality of Furo) Improvement Project' was launched from such a strong desire.
Improving the quality of daily bathing (QOF) is nothing less than raising the overall quality of life (QOL). Please pay attention to Earth Corporation's new challenge of redefining Japan's bathing culture, transforming baths from a 'mere habit' into a 'time to care for oneself and enrich one's life.'
[About Earth Corporation]
