e-dash Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Touma Yamazaki; hereinafter "the Company") is pleased to announce that, following last fiscal year, it has been awarded the "Mahoroba Zero Carbon Challenge ~CO2 Visualization~ (Support Services for Visualization of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Prefectural Businesses)" by Nara Prefecture (Governor: Shin Yamashita).

The company will hold decarbonization management seminars for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Nara Prefecture and begin supporting the visualization and reduction of CO2 emissions using "e-dash" for 30 SMEs in the prefecture.

Background of the Initiative

Nara Prefecture aims to build a sustainable decarbonized society by effectively and efficiently promoting initiatives to "create," "store," and "wisely use" energy, while maximizing the use of "natural energy" and "forest resources," towards the goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

However, many SMEs, despite their intention to "engage in decarbonization management," face unique challenges such as "uncertainty about the effects," "lack of knowledge on how to proceed, leading to a trial-and-error approach," and "high costs." Consequently, only a few companies have actually started concrete initiatives.

In response to this situation, Nara Prefecture has decided to continue implementing the "Mahoroba Zero Carbon Challenge ~CO2 Visualization~ (Support Services for Visualization of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Prefectural Businesses)" program, which supports the "visualization" of greenhouse gas emissions for companies and organizations within the prefecture, for the second consecutive year.

The Company will provide comprehensive support for the transition to decarbonization management from a practical standpoint by assisting in the visualization of CO2 emissions and the formulation of reduction plans using "e-dash," as well as by regularly holding seminars and study sessions on decarbonization management.

In terms of outreach and engagement with companies in the prefecture, we will collaborate with regional financial institutions and various partner organizations to promote decarbonization across a wide range of industries and business types, not limited to manufacturing.

Overview of Support

The Company will provide the following support to SMEs in Nara Prefecture:

1. Provision of the CO2 Emission Visualization System "e-dash" and Support for Developing Reduction Plans

This fiscal year, we will again offer the cloud-based CO2 emission visualization and reduction service "e-dash" free of charge. We will support participating companies in calculating their Scope 1 and 2 emissions, setting reduction targets, and formulating reduction plans. We will also provide basic knowledge necessary for calculation and specific reduction measures (energy saving, energy creation, renewable energy, credits, etc.), offering reduction proposals tailored to each company.

2. Regular Seminars and Study Sessions on Decarbonization Management

The seminar scheduled for August will provide information that can serve as concrete hints for companies' own initiatives, including explanations of the latest regulations and trends among large corporations, as well as real-life case studies from companies that are proactively pursuing decarbonization management and SME-version SBT certification.

In addition, we will regularly hold "Decarbonization Study Sessions" for participating companies that are actually engaged in visualization through this program. These sessions will cover the significance of decarbonization efforts, target setting in line with SBT, specific methods for reducing costs and CO2 emissions, and the latest trends such as Carbon Footprint (CFP), with the aim of developing programs that directly lead to actual reduction actions.

Participating companies can receive all of these support services free of charge until the end of February 2027.

Through strong practical support in this project, we aim to boost decarbonization efforts by companies in the prefecture and contribute to the realization of carbon neutrality in Nara Prefecture.

How to Participate and Apply for the "Mahoroba Zero Carbon Challenge ~CO2 Visualization~" Program

We will hold online information sessions about this project and the "e-dash" service for companies interested in participating (participation is free). Participation in the online information session is required to apply for this project, so please join us.

Comments from Nara Prefecture Representatives

Kazuki Ohe, Section Chief, Decarbonization Promotion Section, Decarbonization and Hydrogen Society Promotion Division, Environmental and Forest Department, Nara Prefecture

Nara Prefecture aims to build a sustainable decarbonized society towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

In recent years, the movement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from companies has been accelerating. Furthermore, large corporations are being progressively obligated to disclose emissions across their entire supply chains, and this trend is expected to continue.

In this context, undertaking decarbonization efforts can lead to the creation of new business opportunities, enhanced trust from business partners, and cost reductions through energy savings, thereby contributing to increased corporate value.

As a first step towards decarbonization, it is crucial to accurately grasp one's own greenhouse gas emissions.

Therefore, Nara Prefecture has decided to implement the "Mahoroba Zero Carbon Challenge ~CO2 Visualization~" program, which supports the "visualization" of greenhouse gas emissions for companies and organizations within the prefecture, for the second consecutive year.

We hope that this project will serve as an effective catalyst for companies and organizations in the prefecture who are interested in decarbonization but are struggling with a lack of human resources and expertise, to engage in decarbonization management. We encourage you to take this opportunity to participate in this project.
