DyDo DRINCO Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Osaka; President: Takanori Nakajima; hereinafter referred to as "DyDo DRINCO") is pleased to announce that as part of the "MINNA no LOVE the EARTH PROJECT" (hereinafter referred to as "this Project"), its environmental initiative in the domestic beverage business, DyDo ASAHI BENDING Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Osaka; President: Teruo Terauchi; hereinafter referred to as "DyDo ASAHI BENDING"), a subsidiary of DyDo DRINCO, will sequentially begin utilizing 100% renewable energy*1 supplied through the renewable energy retail service "Minna Denryoku" provided by UPDATER Inc. (Headquarters: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; President: Eiji Oishi; hereinafter referred to as "UPDATER") at its sales offices.
DyDo DRINCO has identified "Contribution to a Decarbonized and Circular Society" as one of its materialities and has set priority goals in the environmental field. This Project is being developed to promote and advance initiatives towards achieving these goals. In this Project, DyDo DRINCO is promoting initiatives towards the realization of a decarbonized and circular society in collaboration with various stakeholders. To date, the company has been implementing business operations aimed at reducing environmental impact in stages, such as introducing hybrid vehicles and fuel cell (FC) trucks that achieve zero CO2 emissions during operation for route staff responsible for vending machine replenishment and environmental maintenance. DyDo ASAHI BENDING, which operates approximately 50% of all DyDo DRINCO vending machines nationwide, will sequentially switch to 100% renewable energy for electricity at 50 of its 96 sales offices across Japan. This is expected to reduce CO2 emissions associated with electricity consumption at each sales office, contributing significantly to the realization of carbon neutrality in the domestic beverage business, a goal set for 2030.
DyDo DRINCO's business primarily revolves around automatic vending machines, and since its founding, the company has valued the philosophy of coexistence and co-prosperity with local communities. "Minna Denryoku" procures electricity from over 1,100 power plants nationwide, and through its unique blockchain technology, allows users to specify the power plant from which they receive electricity. This enables local production and consumption, where electricity for each sales office is supplied as much as possible by power plants within the same area, aligning with DyDo DRINCO's philosophy of "coexistence and co-prosperity." Furthermore, when a power plant is specified, a portion of the electricity bill is directly sent to the power plant. Under this system, 0.3 yen/kWh is returned to power plants in the same area specified through UPDATER, based on electricity usage*2. DyDo DRINCO resonates with this concept and has decided to utilize "Minna Denryoku." Through this mechanism, the company also aims to support the spread of renewable energy in each region.
DyDo DRINCO Group will continue to contribute to the environment through its business operations and, as a corporate citizen, will promote voluntary actions by each employee and partnerships with various stakeholders who share its vision. Through these initiatives, the company aims to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society as envisioned by the SDGs.
*1 100% renewable energy electricity is supplied by combining electricity derived from renewable energy with the environmental value of non-fossil certificates designated for renewable energy (CO2 emissions are also zero).
