DyDo Drinco, Inc. (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Osaka; President: Takanori Nakajima; hereinafter 'DyDo Drinco') announces that as part of the 'Minna no LOVE the EARTH PROJECT' (hereinafter 'this project'), an environmental initiative in its domestic beverage business, it will sequentially begin utilizing 100% renewable energy*1 at the sales offices of its subsidiary, DyDo Asahi Vending, Inc. (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Osaka; President: Akio Terauchi; hereinafter 'DyDo Asahi Vending'). The electricity will be supplied through 'Minna Denryoku', a renewable energy retail service provided by UPDATER, Inc. (Headquarters: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Eiji Oishi; hereinafter 'UPDATER').

DyDo Drinco has identified 'Contribution to a Decarbonized and Circular Society' as one of its materialities and has set key targets in the environmental field. To disseminate and promote initiatives aimed at achieving these targets, the company is rolling out this project.

In this project, the company collaborates with various stakeholders to promote initiatives toward realizing a decarbonized and circular society. Thus far, it has gradually implemented business operations aimed at reducing environmental impact, such as introducing hybrid cars and zero-emission fuel cell (FC) trucks for the route representatives responsible for vending machine replenishment and maintenance operations.

Now, 50 out of the 96 DyDo Asahi Vending sales offices nationwide will sequentially switch to 100% renewable energy electricity. This is expected to significantly reduce CO2 emissions associated with electricity usage at DyDo Asahi Vending offices, which operate about 50% of DyDo Drinco vending machines nationwide. This initiative is anticipated to have a major effect as one of the steps toward achieving the carbon neutrality target for the domestic beverage business by 2030.

DyDo Drinco operates a business centered on vending machines and, since its founding, has cherished the philosophy of coexistence and mutual prosperity with local communities. 'Minna Denryoku' procures electricity from over 1,100 power plants nationwide and, utilizing proprietary blockchain technology, allows users to specify the power plant they use electricity from. This makes it possible to cover the electricity of each sales office with power plants within the same area as much as possible, enabling local production for local consumption, which aligns perfectly with DyDo Drinco's philosophy of 'coexistence and mutual prosperity.' Furthermore, when a power plant is specified, a portion of the electricity bill is delivered directly to the power plant; specifically, 0.3 yen/kWh is returned to the specified power plant in the same area through UPDATER based on electricity usage*2. DyDo Drinco resonated with this concept and decided to utilize 'Minna Denryoku.' Through this mechanism, the company also hopes to support the spread of renewable energy in each region.

Going forward, the DyDo Drinco Group will continue to promote voluntary actions by each employee and partnerships with various sympathetic stakeholders as environmental initiatives to fulfill its role as a corporate citizen, in addition to environmental contributions through its business. Through these efforts, the company will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society targeted by the SDGs.

*1 By combining electricity derived from renewable energy with the environmental value of non-fossil certificates designated for renewable energy, 100% renewable energy electricity will be supplied (CO2 emissions will also be zero).
