Background of Introduction Following the launch of the second-generation residence cards and specific residence cards (residence card + My Number card) on Saturday, June 14, 2026, the Service decided to offer identity verification using Sagawa Express's support to accommodate non-face-to-face applications using these new cards.

Process of Identity Verification via Sagawa Express 'Recipient Verification Support' When applying non-face-to-face within Japan for the Service's CALL SIM (voice call plan SIM card / eSIM) using a second-generation residence card or specific residence card as identity verification documents, verification will be done via Sagawa Express's support.

The process until service activation is as follows: 1. Upload a copy of the residence card during online application. 2. Pay the initial fee. 3. Upon delivery by Sagawa Express, present the residence card by the contract holder, and start using the service. *Even for applications using older residence cards (issued on or before June 13, 2026), applicants can choose the identity verification service by Sagawa Express.
