■ Background of the Service Launch

In recent years, due to revisions to the Act on Prevention of Improper Use of Mobile Phones, prompted by an increase in fraudulent acquisition and criminal use of mobile phones using forged identification documents, IC chip reading and facial recognition became mandatory for non-face-to-face identity verification from April 1, 2026.

In response, DXHUB has introduced identity verification using Seven Bank's "+Connect" "ATM Counter" for non-face-to-face communication service contracts. By utilizing over 28,000 ATMs nationwide, customers can complete communication service contract procedures regardless of their device environment.

■ Flow from Non-Face-to-Face Application to Service Start, Including Identity Verification

When applying for a CALL SIM (SIM card/eSIM) for "JP SMART SIM" non-face-to-face from within Japan, identity verification will be performed at a Seven Bank ATM using IC chip reading and facial recognition. The flow until service start is as follows:

With "JP SMART SIM," identity verification utilizing Seven Bank's "+Connect" "ATM Counter" eliminates the need to download a dedicated KYC application, and procedures can be completed even by customers who do not have a smartphone compatible with IC chip reading.

2. Supports convenience store payments in addition to bank accounts and credit cards

"JP SMART SIM" supports convenience store payments, so even if you have just arrived in Japan and do not yet have a bank account or credit card, you can apply and then make a payment at a convenience store and perform identity verification at a Seven Bank ATM inside or nearby the convenience store simultaneously. This provides a clear and smooth process for applying for unfamiliar Japanese communication services.

3. Service can start as early as the same day

"JP SMART SIM" supports eSIM contracts in addition to regular SIM cards. After completing the application procedures using the "ATM Counter," if it's an eSIM, there is no SIM card delivery, and service can start as early as the same day once screening is completed.
