Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Celebrating its 80th Anniversary, to Live Stream Concerts for Free on Niconico, Announcing 2026/27 Season Streaming Lineup

Dwango Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Takeshi Natsuno) and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra Public Interest Incorporated Foundation (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Tetsuya Okazaki) are pleased to announce that a total of eight Tokyo Symphony Orchestra concerts scheduled to be held from April 2026 to March 2027 will be live-streamed for free on 'Niconico Tokyo Symphony Orchestra (Nico-Kyo)', a classical music streaming channel on the live streaming service 'Niconico Live'. The streaming lineup will also be announced.

The Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, which celebrates its 80th anniversary in April, will welcome Lorenzo Viotti as its 4th Music Director. The performance on May 17 at Muza Kawasaki Symphony Hall will be Lorenzo Viotti's inaugural concert as Music Director, featuring Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 and Mahler's Symphony No. 1 'Titan'. The performance on September 19 at Suntory Hall will be a 'Tokyo Symphony Orchestra 80th Anniversary Commemorative' concert, featuring Schmidt's Oratorio 'The Book with Seven Seals'. In addition, performances by guest conductors such as Hubert Soudant, Conductor Laureate of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, for his '80th Birthday Commemorative Concert', as well as Pablo Heras-Casado, Tatsuya Shimono, and Motonori Kobayashi, are also scheduled to be streamed.

The collaboration between the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and Niconico began in March 2020 with the first-ever audience-free concert live stream in orchestra history, and this year marks its seventh year. It has attracted attention as a new form of orchestra appreciation and received a great response, leading to the establishment of 'Niconico Tokyo Symphony Orchestra (Nico-Kyo)', the first Niconico channel by a professional orchestra, in June of the same year, regularly live-streaming concerts. Live streams can be watched for free without membership registration, and can be viewed repeatedly during the time-shift period. The rich musical experience performed by the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra will be delivered with high-quality video and audio, along with comments from Niconico viewers.
