DUMSCO Inc. (Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director CEO: Seishi Nishiike, hereinafter referred to as "Our Company") announces that it has entered into a joint research agreement with Kansai Medical University (Location: Hirakata-shi, Osaka, Chairman: Toshio Yamashita, President: Tatsuo Kinashi, hereinafter referred to as "Kansai Medical University") using data from the ePRO (electronic Patient Reported Outcome) system "Hakarute" provided by Our Company.

Background of This Research
In recent years, in the field of cancer treatment, "ePRO," where patients themselves report symptoms and quality of life (QOL) through smart devices, etc., has been attracting attention for its contribution to early detection of side effects and prolongation of survival period. On the other hand, challenges in implementing it in clinical settings in Japan include addressing elderly patients, operational burden, and insufficient detailed analysis of which patient groups and which items are effectively functioning.
This research will analyze the usage data of the ePRO system "Hakarute," released in 2024. By clarifying the correlation between patient backgrounds such as cancer type, age, sex, and treatment methods, and frequently entered self-symptoms and QOL items, we aim to establish more effective ePRO operation guidelines and build foundational information to contribute to future system improvements.
Outline of Joint Research
Research Title: Retrospective study on the usage status of e-PRO (electronic Patient Reported Outcome) for patients receiving anticancer drug therapy.
Research Period: December 1, 2025 - March 31, 2027
Joint Research System:
Kansai Medical University: Professor Masashi Kanai, Center for Medical Oncology (Research Supervisor), Assistant Professor Kohei Nagata, Center for Medical Oncology (Data Analysis)
DUMSCO: Director Naofumi Wakabayashi (Data Provision)
Provided Data: ePRO "Hakarute" dataset
Future Outlook
DUMSCO will leverage the insights obtained through this research to support the construction of a "patient-centered cancer drug therapy system" that is attentive to each patient's situation. Furthermore, based on the analysis results, we will promote further functional expansion of "Hakarute," such as improving UI/UX for more intuitive input with less burden and enhancing the accuracy of alerts that medical professionals should intervene with.
