The Japan Drone Business Support Association (DBA, Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture) will host the 6th Drone Business Study Session on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in a hybrid format at the permanent flying car exhibition venue 'Kurashiki Flying Car Exhibition Venue' (Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture) and via Zoom.

This study session positions the national drone license as the 'first floor' and specialized skills for business success as the 'second floor,' offering a systematic learning platform on practical topics such as cost estimation, analysis of violation cases, risk management in business operations, and real-world case studies. From the forefront of next-generation air mobility, we will deliver cutting-edge insights to drone pilots nationwide.

Please note the event time.

Not an 'ordinary' study session — cutting-edge knowledge from a leading-edge venue

The venue, the 'Kurashiki Flying Car Exhibition Venue,' permanently displays real eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft. Operated by the nonprofit MASC, which promotes the development and demonstration of next-generation air mobility, this facility serves as a hub for disseminating the latest in drone business.

The curriculum goes beyond typical drone school content, diving into practical areas often overlooked. Topics include compliance learned from violation cases, appropriate cost estimation by operation type, route planning for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flights, and on-site case analysis—knowledge essential in real business settings but outside the scope of national certification exams.

DBA's educational philosophy is built on the '1st floor, 2nd floor' concept. The national license is merely the foundation ('1st floor'), while a pilot’s market value is determined by specialized skills and practical knowledge—what we call the '2nd floor.' This study session is designed to systematically build this '2nd floor' knowledge, covering two themes per month.

Learning Themes for the 6th Session (July)

13:00–15:00 (General participants: 1,100 JPY including tax)

① Regulatory Updates — July Changes: Expansion of No-Fly Zones and Review of DID Areas

We will summarize the recent regulatory changes in July, including the expansion of no-fly zones and the review of densely inhabited districts (DID).

② Disaster Prevention and Response — What It Means to Be an Operational Pilot at Disaster Sites: Differences from Routine Work and Training Methods

We will explain the differences between routine operations such as aerial photography and surveying, and being operationally effective in disaster zones. Practical training methods will also be introduced.

③ On-Site Safety — Five Minutes Before Flight That Prevents Accidents: RAKY, Risk Management, and Check Apps

We will explain the concept of 'RAKY'—a combination of hazard prediction (KY) and risk assessment—flight pre-briefings, and the pre-setting of flight cancellation criteria in practical, field-ready formats. We will also introduce DBA’s operational support tools that systematize safety checks.

④ Career Development — The Next Step to Turn Your National License into a Career: How to Secure Projects, Set Pricing, and Leverage Networks

Starting from the common post-certification dilemma—'I don’t know where to begin'—we will provide concrete guidance on developing expertise, transitioning from subcontractor to prime contractor, cost-based pricing, and effective network utilization.
