Broadcasting from the 'Flying Car Exhibition Hall' — DBA's 5th Drone Business Study Session to be Held Hybrid (Okayama/Zoom) on June 9

The Japan Drone Business Support Association (DBA, Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture) will hold the '5th Drone Business Study Session' on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, in a hybrid format at the permanent flying car exhibition hall 'Kurashiki Flying Car Exhibition Hall' (Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture) and via Zoom.

This study session positions the national drone license as the 'first floor' and specialized skills for achieving results in business as the 'second floor.' It is a place to systematically learn practical knowledge in specialized fields of the drone business, such as concepts of quotation, analysis of violation cases, risk management in business, and review of practical cases. The event will broadcast cutting-edge knowledge to pilots nationwide from a venue at the forefront of next-generation air mobility.

■ Not an 'Ordinary Study Session' — Cutting-Edge Knowledge from a Cutting-Edge Hub

The venue for this study session is the 'Kurashiki Flying Car Exhibition Hall,' which permanently displays actual flying cars (eVTOL). This hub, operated by the general incorporated association MASC, which promotes the development and demonstration of next-generation air mobility, will broadcast the forefront of the drone business.

The learning content also delves into practical areas not covered by typical drone schools. Compliance learned from violation arrest cases, proper quotation structures for each task, route design for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flights, and verification from on-site cases — all of this knowledge is outside the scope of national exams but essential in the business field.

DBA advocates the 'first floor/second floor' educational philosophy. The national license is merely the 'first floor,' the foundation of the building. What determines a pilot's market value is their specialized skills and practical knowledge for each task — the 'second floor.' This study session is designed as a program to systematically build up this 'second floor' with two themes each month.

■ 5th Session (June) Learning Themes

Theme 1: Air Transport Business Case Study — Considering the Expanding Air Transport Business and Risk Management

Drones are becoming larger, and the air transport (logistics) business is rapidly expanding. However, the test aircraft for the national drone license range from 2kg to about 30kg. Flying a small aircraft in a narrow area is a completely different skill from flying a large aircraft with an external load over long distances. The session will examine airspace management and flight management for cutting-edge businesses.

Theme 2: Local Government Business Case Study — Considering Utilization for Local Governments and Data Security

The wave of drone utilization is also spreading to local governments. However, some local governments are hesitant to introduce drones due to concerns about data management, such as captured image data and flight data. The session will examine how to manage and operate data used and acquired by drones.
