NTT Docomo to Launch 'cocoe Ear,' the World's First Open-Ear Sound Collector

NTT Docomo, Inc. will release 'cocoe Ear,' the world's first*1 non-occluding open-ear sound collector developed by NTT Sonority, Inc., and the 'cocoe Link' TV transmitter on Thursday, June 18, 2026. The products will be available at Docomo shops and the Docomo Online Shop nationwide.

'cocoe Ear' is an open-ear sound collector that achieves a natural listening experience and comfortable fit for long-term wear, utilizing the patented 'PSZ (Personalized Sound Zone)'*2 technology from NTT Corporation. In a crowdfunding campaign starting December 2025, it raised 100 million yen in just three days and ultimately secured over 250 million yen, setting a record as the fastest and largest funding for a sound collector project*3.

'cocoe Link' is a dedicated TV transmitter for 'cocoe Ear,' delivering audio from the television directly to the device.

Starting on the launch day, hands-on demonstrations of 'cocoe Ear' will be available at 56 Docomo shops across Japan, with at least one location in every prefecture. Furthermore, the Docomo Shop Marunouchi will begin a trial in early August allowing customers with hearing concerns to complete procedures while wearing the 'cocoe Ear.'
