DNP Launches Compact "Pattern Light" with Luminance Up to Approx. 3 Times Higher Than Conventional Products

DNP (Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd.) will begin trial sales in July 2026 of the "DNP High Visibility Pattern Light Fixed Installation Type," a compact lighting device with luminance up to approximately 3 times higher than the "Pattern Light Portable Type Standard Specification (3.0W power consumption) (hereinafter referred to as conventional product)."

This product achieves high visibility of pattern lights such as lines and arrows, even in bright indoor facilities. Furthermore, with an optional anti-frost device, durability in harsh sub-zero environments is improved, allowing for use in cold regions and other areas. The system can also be linked with control systems to provide systems that support diverse usage scenarios such as remote operation and sensor detection, and can also support various patterns including text.

[Development Background]

In recent years, there has been a growing need in logistics facilities, factories, and construction sites to safely and efficiently guide vehicles, forklifts, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), etc., in response to labor shortages and to prevent work-related accidents. In particular, the introduction of technology to improve work efficiency is accelerating at night construction sites and in cold regions.

DNP has been developing and providing Pattern Lights since 2019 to meet these needs. Now, in response to the increasing demand for use in bright indoor facilities, cold regions, and diverse usage scenarios such as remote operation and sensor detection, DNP has developed a fixed installation type with luminance up to approximately 3 times higher than conventional products.

The Pattern Light Fixed Installation Type has improved luminance by up to approximately 3 times compared to conventional products. This allows for clear confirmation of "pattern lights" such as lines and arrows even in bright indoor environments. It enables guidance of workers and vehicles in factories and logistics warehouses, contributing to improved safety within facilities. It can also be utilized at night construction sites and facilities where enhanced safety measures are required.

2. Durability for Use in Harsh Sub-Zero Environments

By equipping the light-projecting section with an optional window with a heater function, it can be installed and used in sub-zero environments such as cold regions and freezer warehouses. Stable use is possible even under harsh weather conditions, leading to enhanced safety measures in infrastructure and logistics facilities.

3. System Supporting Diverse Usage Scenarios Such as Remote Operation and Sensor Detection

Control systems are also provided to enable remote operation, projection by linking multiple pattern lights, timed on/off projection, and dimming control. Adopting companies can utilize it in various scenes without developing a new dedicated system. For example, it can be used for guiding people, vehicles, and aircraft using multiple pattern lights through remote operation at construction sites, logistics centers, and runways where people cannot be constantly present.

4. Capable of Supporting Diverse Patterns Including Text

In addition to lines and arrows, patterns can be designed and created to match the usage scene, such as text and symbols. This allows for the projection of various messages and signs to the surroundings. A red color variation is also available for stronger attention-grabbing or warning messages (only for portable type in FY2026).

Road Traffic Field: Outer line display during fog or snowfall, recommended lane display to avoid congestion, speed recovery display, various temporary guidance displays, etc.

Civil Engineering and Construction Field: Setting of baseline and lane line positions, lane guidance for vehicles on roads, etc.

Factories and Logistics Warehouses: Indication of dangerous areas and attention-grabbing, separation of pedestrian and vehicle zones, display of lane lines for truck entry, indication of pedestrian walkways, etc.

Guidance within Facilities: Evacuation guidance during disasters, guidance for specific vehicles in parking lots, guidance instructions from air traffic control, large-scale guidance to destinations at events, etc.

Promotion of Automation: Display of guideline displays to assist work, use as a lighting device mounted on robots to indicate presence to surroundings, etc.

DNP aims to achieve cumulative sales of 5 billion yen by fiscal year 2030 by providing the "DNP High Visibility Pattern Light Fixed Installation Type" equipped with high luminance and environmental resistance, as well as various pattern lights that have been sold conventionally, to public works and facility operators. In the future, DNP will begin trial sales of a red portable type as an addition to the color variations of pattern lights, and will proceed with the creation of diverse patterns according to customer requests.
