DMTC was established on November 5, 2021, at the University of Tokyo Komaba Research Campus, with Kimiro Meguro as its representative director. The DMTC-SA (Disaster Management Training Center Support Association) supports DMTC and oversees the "Disaster Management Specialist®" certification.
