However, Nightrider dies in a driving accident. Max becomes the target of the "Outriders" motorcycle gang led by Toecutter, who plots revenge.

The second installment of the near-future action series starring Mel Gibson. In a decadent society plunged into an oil panic, Mad Max takes on the increasingly vicious highway killers! With the outbreak of the Middle East war, the world has fallen into an oil panic, and fierce battles for gasoline are occurring everywhere. Max, wandering in search of gasoline in his supercharged V8 Interceptor, encounters people protecting an oil refinery. To help them escape to a new land, he once again takes on the battle against the motorcycle gangs.
