■ Hong Kong Leads the Asian Culinary Scene - 2 of the Top 3 Spots
In the 'Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants' ranking, a total of 10 restaurants from Hong Kong were included, including those in the 51-100 list announced recently. Of these, 6 restaurants made it into the top 50. Following 'The Chairman' (1st) and 'Wing' (2nd), 'Neighborhood' (24th), 'Estro' (32nd), 'Caprice' (35th), and 'Mono' (46th) were also ranked in the top tier. In the 51-100 list, four restaurants were selected: 'Ta Vie' (68th), 'Vea' (70th), 'Andō' (88th), and 'Amber' (90th).

These results prove once again that Hong Kong is a driving force in the Asian culinary scene. The ranked restaurants span a wide range of culinary genres, highlighting Hong Kong’s appeal as a 'melting pot of gastronomy' where global flavors gather, and its presence as a city home to numerous Michelin-starred establishments.

Furthermore, in the recently announced Chinese 'Black Pearl Restaurant Guide,' the number of Hong Kong establishments listed increased to 39, surpassing the previous year. Four of these are new entries: 'Mosu Hong Kong' by three-star Korean chef Sung Anh, the Cantonese-French fusion restaurant 'Jee,' the Indian restaurant 'Leela,' and the fine-dining Cantonese restaurant 'Man Ho Chinese Restaurant.' Additionally, the skills of local Hong Kong chefs were highly recognized; Vicky Cheng, a Hong Kong-born chef at the Chinese-French fusion restaurant 'VEA,' won the Best Chef Award, and Richard Ekkebus (Note: The original text refers to Terry Ho, head chef of Amber) won the Young Chef Award, leaving a strong impression of the high caliber of Hong Kong’s chefs.

Moreover, the 'MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong & Macau 2026' features a total of 77 starred restaurants in Hong Kong, an increase from the previous year, once again showing that Hong Kong’s food culture is at a world-class level.

■ Asia’s Top Chefs and Global Media Gather in Hong Kong to Experience Its Food Culture
Taking the 'Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants' awards ceremony as an opportunity, the Hong Kong Tourism Board created a space for interaction between Asia’s leading renowned chefs and local top chefs. The participating chefs experienced Hong Kong’s diverse food culture and cooperated in the production of 'Taste Hong Kong' promotional videos. The HKTB also utilized its international network to invite media representatives from key markets, including mainland China, Taiwan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia, to Hong Kong. In addition to attending the awards ceremony, they prepared numerous immersive culinary experience programs to convey the unique charm of Hong Kong as a 'Culinary Capital.'

This tour provided opportunities to engage with leading Hong Kong chef Vicky Cheng, allowing participants to experience his exceptional culinary techniques and philosophy. Workshops were also held on traditional Cantonese dim sum, such as siu mai and shrimp dumplings, led by Wong Lung-to, Executive Chef of 'Forum Restaurant,' as well as workshops on making egg tarts, a staple of Hong Kong sweets. Media representatives also experienced dining at ranked restaurants and visiting notable bars, gaining a broad experience of Hong Kong’s diverse food and beverage culture.

Through the multifaceted coverage generated by this media tour, it is expected that the unique culinary appeal of Hong Kong will reach readers around the world, further increasing interest in 'Taste Hong Kong.' We believe this will further strengthen Hong Kong’s solid position as a 'Culinary Capital.'
