Digital Grid Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yusuke Toyoda) has implemented a custom-made electricity procurement mechanism for four factories of Narikoma Food Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Ibaraki City, Osaka; Representative Director: Katsunari Takeuchi). This system aims to suppress price fluctuation risks by procuring up to approximately 90% of electricity at fixed prices. The company successfully reduced price fluctuation risk by procuring a portion of the electricity through the Digital Grid Platform (DGP) just before the Middle East situation deteriorated. Digital Grid plans to continue offering diverse services to support customers in selecting electricity procurement options aligned with their cost and decarbonization policies. Narikoma is a major company in the nursing care and medical facility food industry, manufacturing approximately 530,000 meals per day at central kitchens nationwide. The four factories for which Digital Grid supported electricity procurement have a total electricity consumption of approximately 20 GWh, necessitating measures against electricity price fluctuations. This initiative involved flexible design, such as adjusting the volume of electricity procured at fixed prices according to each factory's electricity usage. Prices on the Japan Electric Power Exchange (JEPX) tend to be significantly affected by volatile "spot LNG prices." The wholesale electricity market prices fluctuate due to sudden changes in LNG and crude oil prices caused by the Middle East situation. By procuring a portion of the electricity at fixed prices just before the price fluctuations due to the Middle East situation expanded, the impact of subsequent sharp price increases was suppressed. Digital Grid Corporation was ranked in Asia-Pacific's Fastest Growing Companies 2026 and received the Reiwa 7th Year Climate Change Action Minister of the Environment Award. Established: October 2017, Capital: 1,204 million JPY (as of end of January), Employees: 95 (as of April 1).
