Digital Plus Inc. announced that its 'Digital Gift®' service has been adopted for Hokkaido's 'Do-min Life Support Point Grant Project,' an emergency economic measure against rising prices. The system is built on the 'Hokkaido App' provided by Pocket Sign Inc., the lead company of the project's contracting consortium.
This large-scale initiative has a supplementary budget of 16.8 billion JPY and targets approximately 2.82 million households, providing 5,500 JPY per household. Digital Plus participates by offering residents various options for receiving their subsidies.
Under this scheme, heads of households can choose between 'Do-min Points' or 'Physical Gift Cards.' Those opting for points can receive them via the Hokkaido App. These points can be used for payments at participating stores within the prefecture or exchanged for various electronic money and points through the Digital Gift® functionality within the app.
By digitizing the distribution process, the project aims to be more efficient and faster than traditional bank transfers. It also helps reduce administrative workload and optimize cost management by unifying fee structures. Digital Plus plans to further strengthen its presence in the municipal sector as part of its strategy to reach 100 billion JPY in transaction volume by 2028.
