The number of inbound foreign tourists is on a recovery and expansion trend. According to a survey by the Japan National Tourism Organization, inbound foreign tourist spending in 2025 is projected to reach 9.4559 trillion yen, an increase of 16.4% year-on-year, setting a new record [1]. Furthermore, Narita International Airport announced that the number of foreign passengers at Narita International Airport in fiscal year 2025 is expected to be 24.1 million, also a record high [2]. Tony Khan, President of DHL Japan, Inc., stated, "The demand for overseas shipping by inbound foreign tourists is steadily growing with the expansion of the inbound market. For DHL, strategically capturing this demand is one of our top priorities. Through our partnership with JAL ABC, we have been able to establish a drop-off location at the forefront of demand, the airport. We will continue to actively collaborate with domestic and international partners to further strengthen Japan's international transportation infrastructure."
DHL Japan has continuously promoted the development of service infrastructure and improvement of convenience for inbound foreign tourists, including its participation in the development of "Hakoboya," an online tool that allows for easy creation of shipping labels using smartphones at retail stores. The expansion to Narita International Airport is an extension of these strategic investments.
