DHL Japan, a leading international express company (Representative Director and President: Tony Khan; Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo), is pleased to announce that it has joined 'ACT FOR SKY'[i], a voluntary organization working toward the commercialization, adoption, and expansion of domestically produced Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

Efforts toward decarbonization in the aviation sector are progressing globally, and SAF is gaining attention as a potent means to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in air transport. Through this membership, DHL Japan will collaborate with fellow members—including energy companies, airlines, and local governments—to promote the widespread use of domestically produced SAF and the decarbonization of air cargo transport.

DHL Japan has already concluded an SAF procurement agreement with Cosmo Oil Marketing Co., Ltd. and, as of May 2025, launched Japan's first scheduled air cargo transport service utilizing domestically produced SAF. Furthermore, since 2023, the company has offered 'GoGreen Plus', an international transport service utilizing SAF, which has been adopted by over 23,000 companies in Japan to date. Through these initiatives, DHL supports its customers in reducing CO₂ emissions within their supply chains.

Taking this membership in ACT FOR SKY as an opportunity, DHL intends to deepen its collaboration with industry and local governments, further strengthening efforts toward achieving sustainable air cargo transport.

Tony Khan, Representative Director and President of DHL Japan, stated: "As corporate decarbonization management advances and the importance of sustainability disclosures increases, there is a growing demand for emission reductions across the entire supply chain, including logistics. Low-carbon transport utilizing SAF is a vital option for achieving this. Through our activities with ACT FOR SKY, we will provide more of our customers with air cargo transport options that have a lower environmental impact."

DHL's Environmental Initiatives

The DHL Group is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and is promoting decarbonization in the logistics sector. In addition to providing the 'GoGreen Plus' international transport service utilizing SAF, the company is advancing the electrification of its collection and delivery vehicle fleets worldwide and developing carbon-neutral logistics facilities.

According to the 2025 Sustainability Report published by the DHL Group, the DHL Group achieved a 10% SAF blend ratio in its own aircraft by the end of 2025[ii]. Furthermore, the company aims to increase the SAF ratio across its entire aviation network to 30% by 2030. Through these initiatives, it is working to reduce emissions across the entire supply chain.
