Dentsu Soken Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Hirohisa Iwamoto; hereinafter "Dentsu Soken"), which realizes the evolution of companies and society through technology, has signed Japan's first sales agency agreement with FUJIFILM Business Innovation Japan Corp. (Head Office: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Taiichi Hatasho) for "3DWorks" to further accelerate the adoption of Model Based Enterprise*1 (hereinafter, MBE) in Japan's manufacturing industry, and will begin offering the solution on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

"3DWorks" is a cloud service that integrates design and manufacturing data on 3D models*2 (hereinafter, 3DA models). For many years, Dentsu Soken has been developing and providing MBE solutions for the domestic manufacturing industry, which utilize 3DA models with product manufacturing information across the entire manufacturing process, including product design, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance, and has promoted their widespread adoption. By expanding its offerings with "3DWorks" as a new solution, Dentsu Soken will enable the utilization and distribution of 3DA models in the process of improving part accuracy and mold quality before mass production, thereby enabling the construction of a comprehensive MBE foundation.

Background

The global MBE market is projected to grow at an average annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 15%*3 by around 2030. In contrast, the Japanese market still has a strong 2D (drawing) culture, resulting in a low adoption rate of 3DA models. However, an expansion and growth in MBE demand is expected in the future as a response to the declining birthrate and aging population. Dentsu Soken anticipates that the global spread of 3DA models will increasingly necessitate a shift away from 2D (drawings).

Expansion of "3DWorks" and Dentsu Soken's Comprehensive MBE Solution

1. "3DWorks" will be adopted as a platform for distributing 3DA models created with tools centered on "Siemens Designcenter NX" to production departments (internal and external), thereby building a mechanism for the widespread adoption of 3DA models throughout the entire supply chain.

Dentsu Soken highly values "3DWorks" for its strengths in "3DA model distribution" and "digital alignment technology," believing it can provide new value that complements the 3DA model toolchain it has built to date.

2. Specifically, in the mass production design preparation process after product design, measurement data of prototype parts can be integrated into 3DA models, allowing discrepancies between design values and measured values to be visualized with arrows and colors. This will enable faster discussion and consensus building on appropriate corrective actions between departments and companies. As a result, product development time can be shortened.

3. By accumulating information on the causes of product defects, countermeasures, and judgment results, it is possible to contribute to improving product development speed and quality.

Moving forward, Dentsu Soken will continue to accelerate MBE promotion across the entire supply chain and value chain of Japan's manufacturing industry, support the widespread adoption of 3DA models and the construction of next-generation manufacturing foundations, and strive to create new value that supports the future of society and companies.

*1 An approach that utilizes 3D models (3DA models) with product manufacturing information consistently across the entire enterprise, including design, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance.

*2 An "annotated 3D model" created with 3D CAD, which directly attaches "manufacturing information (PMI)" such as dimensions, geometric tolerances, surface roughness, and notes to the shape data.
