Dentsu Soken Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hirohisa Iwamoto; hereinafter "Dentsu Soken"), a company that realizes the evolution of companies and society through technology, has signed a sales agency agreement with Fujifilm Business Innovation Japan Corp. (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Taiichi Hatasho) for "3DWorks," the first of its kind in Japan. This solution will be launched on March 31, 2026 (Tuesday), with the aim of further accelerating the adoption of Model Based Enterprise*1 (hereinafter, MBE) in Japan's manufacturing industry.
"3DWorks" is a cloud service that integrates design and manufacturing data on 3D models*2 (hereinafter, 3DA models). For many years, Dentsu Soken has been developing and providing MBE solutions for Japan's manufacturing industry, promoting the utilization of 3DA models with attached product manufacturing information throughout the entire manufacturing process, including product design, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance. By expanding its offerings with "3DWorks" as a new solution, it will be possible to utilize and distribute 3DA models in processes that improve part accuracy and mold quality before transitioning to mass production, thereby enabling the construction of a comprehensive MBE foundation.
Background
Globally, the MBE market is projected to grow at an average annual rate (CAGR) of approximately 15%*3 by around 2030. In contrast, the Japanese market still has a strong 2D (drawing) culture, and the adoption rate of 3DA models is low. However, with the need to address the declining birthrate and aging population, MBE demand is expected to expand and grow in the future. Dentsu Soken anticipates that the global spread of 3DA models will increasingly necessitate a departure from 2D (drawing) practices.
Expansion of "3DWorks" and Dentsu Soken's Comprehensive MBE Solution
1. "3DWorks" will be adopted as a platform for distributing 3DA models created with tools centered on "Siemens Designcenter NX" to production departments (internal and external), thereby building a mechanism for 3DA models to be widely adopted across the entire supply chain.
Dentsu Soken highly values "3DWorks" for its strengths in "3DA model distribution" and "digital alignment technology," believing it can offer new value by complementing the existing 3DA model toolchain.
2. Specifically, in the mass production design preparation process after product design, measurement data of prototype parts can be integrated into 3DA models, and the deviation between design values and measured values can be visualized with arrows and colors.
