Denki Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Koto Ward, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tadanobu Kondo; hereinafter "the Company") and its group company CyberCore Inc. (Headquarters: Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture; Representative Director: Yuki Tamaki) announce the commencement of a commissioned survey project at JR Kitakami Station, conducted in collaboration with JR East Morioka Branch, aimed at improving transfer convenience between Shinkansen and conventional railway lines. The project utilizes CyberCore's BehaveEye® (edge-based behavior analysis solution with ReID technology).
Utilizing camera-crossing tracking (ReID) to enable long-term, continuous monitoring of transfer flows
Passenger flow surveys within railway stations have traditionally relied on visual observation by survey personnel, primarily to count passengers and confirm destinations. However, manual surveys are often limited to short-term or specific time slot observations due to constraints in staffing, deployment locations, and survey duration. This makes it challenging to collect continuous data over extended periods or to accurately track passenger movement patterns across multiple points.
In contrast, this survey employs CyberCore's BehaveEye® solution equipped with cross-camera tracking (ReID: AI-based re-identification technology) to estimate and track individuals captured by cameras installed on platforms and at ticket gates, without identifying individuals personally. This enables not only people counting per camera but also destination tracking across cameras—specifically, identifying "where passengers came from and where they went." As a result, AI-powered analysis of passenger transfer flows between platforms and gates is now achievable.
Prior to this survey, a pilot experiment conducted at the same station in January 2025 confirmed the practical usefulness of the collected data. Building on insights gained from that pilot, this survey will further advance long-term and continuous flow monitoring.

All camera images and data collected during this survey will be properly managed and disposed of within the scope of the survey's purpose.
