Denki Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Tadatoshi Kondo) commenced the provision of "DK-TBX-15," a gimbal-equipped dual-eye thermal camera specialized for shipboard and maritime surveillance, starting in April 2026.

This product uses a gyro sensor and attitude stabilization functions to correct ship sway and vibration in real-time. With a dual-eye configuration integrating a visible light camera and an infrared (thermal) camera, it enables consistently stable image acquisition and high-precision surveillance regardless of day, night, or weather conditions.

Dual-eye thermal camera with gimbal function DK-TBX-15

Background

In recent years, in port areas, coastal areas, and ship operations, there has been a demand for surveillance devices that can reliably grasp the surrounding situation even in harsh environments such as night, fog, and stormy weather.

Especially on ships, where wave-induced swaying and vibration significantly affect image quality, "how to acquire shake-free images" has become a critical issue.

Furthermore, wind resistance capable of withstanding strong winds (summit winds) at high altitudes (steel towers, high-rise buildings, etc.) is required, and robustness capable of supporting high-altitude camera systems introduced by fire departments, etc., is also necessary.

"DK-TBX-15" achieves advanced attitude stabilization control through a gimbal mechanism linked to a gyro sensor. Furthermore, by combining "physical attitude stabilization by a gimbal using a MEMS gyro" and a "digital stabilizer (DIS) linked to a gyro sensor," it achieves unprecedented high stability.

By physically canceling large shakes with the gimbal and correcting fine vibrations through digital processing, it is possible to acquire stable, high-quality images even under harsh conditions such as on ships or in strong wind environments.

By linking with our video management software DK-iCam®*, it is possible to integrally perform video monitoring, recording, and camera control, providing high convenience in terms of operation.

*DK-iCam®: Video management software provided by Denki Kogyo Co., Ltd. It enables integrated real-time monitoring, recording, and remote control of camera footage.

Anticipated Deployment Scenarios

・Navigation support and safety confirmation when mounted on ships

・Surveillance at ports and mooring facilities

・Warning surveillance in coastal and offshore areas

・Situation assessment during night and bad weather

・High altitudes with strong winds, such as steel towers and high-rise buildings

・Monitoring of outdoor facilities in factories and plants, etc.

Main Features of DK-TBX-15

1. High Image Stability with Gyro Sensor-Linked Gimbal

The gimbal mechanism detects complex movements peculiar to ships, such as pitching and rolling, with a gyro sensor and corrects them in real-time. This maintains consistently horizontal and shake-free images, enabling stable surveillance even in shaky environments.

2. Dual-eye Camera with Visible Light + Infrared

Simultaneous acquisition of visible light and infrared images allows for object detection even in low light, at night, or in poor visibility conditions such as fog or smoke.

3. Optimized Design for Maritime Surveillance and Shipboard Installation

Designed with maritime-specific environmental conditions in mind, it supports a wide range of applications such as navigation support, port management, and warning surveillance.

4. Supports 24-hour Continuous Surveillance

Enables stable image acquisition regardless of day, night, or weather, contributing to the establishment of an uninterrupted surveillance system.
