Background of Development

In recent years, there has been growing support for 'foods that convey the quality of their ingredients' and 'products with a story behind them.' In particular, demand is expanding for products that use domestic ingredients and showcase handcrafted processes, especially for gift purposes. Meanwhile, at Satsuma mandarin production sites, there is a constant occurrence of mandarins that are difficult to distribute as fresh fruit due to reasons such as small size, or scratches and black spots on the peel. 'Marumaru Mikan' was born from an upcycling initiative to regenerate these mandarins by peeling each one by hand and preserving the whole flesh, thereby creating new value.

We carefully peel each Kyushu-grown Satsuma mandarin by hand to avoid damaging the pulp and pack a luxurious five whole mandarins into each jar.

By using mandarins that could not be shipped as fresh fruit due to peel scratches or size irregularities, we contribute to the reduction of food loss.
