June 17, 2026:

Dell Technologies Inc. announced that Getworks Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Hidenori Nakazawa; hereinafter 'Getworks'), a company that develops and operates container-type data centers and leverages renewable energy for data center development and operations, has introduced Dell Technologies' liquid-cooled GPU server 'Dell PowerEdge XE9680L' into its liquid-cooled container data center as part of its initiative to prepare for the generative AI era. This enables the construction of high-performance infrastructure to support the utilization of generative AI, while achieving significant space and power savings.

Adoption Background:

As the use of generative AI rapidly expands, the massive heat and power consumption generated by GPU servers have become major challenges. In particular, traditional air-cooling methods have been unable to sufficiently cool high-performance GPUs, making efficient operations difficult.

Reasons for Adoption:

To address these challenges, Getworks began developing liquid-cooled container data centers. As the core product for this initiative, it adopted the 'PowerEdge XE9680L,' a liquid-cooled GPU server capable of supporting up to eight of the latest high-performance NVIDIA GPUs.

In a market where supply of liquid-cooled GPU servers is constrained, Dell Technologies' ability to deliver products quickly, thanks to its global supply chain capabilities as a global supplier, was the key factor in the decision to adopt the 'PowerEdge XE9680L.' Additionally, the server management feature 'iDRAC (Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller)' seamlessly integrates with Getworks' management tools, enabling real-time server status monitoring and temperature control—critical in liquid-cooled environments—further contributing to the adoption decision.

Moreover, Dell Technologies' support continued to play a significant role after the adoption decision. Through Dell's end-to-end 'Rack Integration Service (RIS)'—from on-site assessment to installation—the heavy liquid-cooled GPU servers were smoothly transported and installed, enabling rapid deployment.

Implementation Benefits:

The introduction of the 'PowerEdge XE9680L' has delivered the following benefits.*1

Power Efficiency: Reduced total system power consumption by up to approximately 30% compared to air-cooled GPU servers. Additionally, due to minimal impact on container internal temperatures, cooling power consumption has been reduced to about one-tenth.

Space Efficiency: Reduced server installation space to less than half that of air-cooled GPU servers, enabling a higher-density computing environment within the same container.

Noise Reduction: Reduced noise by approximately 40% compared to air-cooled GPU servers, improving workability and habitability inside the container.

Environmental Impact Reduction: By combining Getworks' facility-specific natural cooling using well water and river water with the PowerEdge XE9680L's power efficiency, environmental impact has been reduced.

Future Outlook:

Getworks aims to deploy liquid-cooled container data centers across various locations in Japan and virtually connect them to build a flexible and sustainable data center environment. As generative AI utilization advances, the company will establish a system to rapidly provide liquid-cooled GPU server environments to meet diverse customer needs. Dell Technologies will support these initiatives with broad technological expertise and comprehensive support, jointly advancing infrastructure development for the generative AI era.

Comments:

Ryutaro Hayashi, Executive Officer and Head of Business Operations at Getworks Inc., stated: 'With the advancement of generative AI, we believe demand for liquid-cooled container data centers will continue to grow. Since space within container data centers is limited, the ability to install more servers in the same space is highly valuable. Even within the footprint of a single container, the 'PowerEdge XE9680L' delivers greater computing power. The 'PowerEdge XE9680L' has opened new possibilities for the generative AI era by enabling high-density deployment and significant power and space savings.'

Yusuke Katori, Executive Officer and Head of Telecom & Media Sales at Dell Technologies, stated: 'Japan is at a turning point in AI development, and I believe that companies with efficiently scalable infrastructure will lead this field. This liquid-cooled GPU environment reflects Dell Technologies' commitment to rapidly and reliably meeting the demand for advanced, efficient AI infrastructure. We believe it is not just a technical milestone, but a means to make generative AI widely and massively accessible.'
