DEA is currently in discussions with multiple local governments, aiming to integrate with the 'Hometown Resident Registration System' promoted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. About GLOCAL AGENTS GLOCAL AGENTS is a game-based related population platform where players become 'Secret Agents' in various parts of the country, discovering and sharing the hidden charms of food, culture, history, and nature through missions.
Users can participate in missions from smartphone or PC browsers without visiting the region. Through experiences like learning about local information, posting photos, answering quizzes, and reading stories, they deepen their interest in the region while staying outside, creating opportunities for continuous engagement.
This service connects local governments, companies, and users on a single platform. For local governments, it serves as a tool to create related populations that lead to tourism, hometown tax (Furusato Nozei), relocation, and regional branding. Based on the 'related population' concept promoted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the platform aims to provide an experience where users can 'connect with regions from anywhere' through gamification, expanding digital participation into interest, dissemination, visits, donations, and support consumption.
Results from Pilot Experiments In pilot experiments conducted from June to July 2025, 3 local governments (Hakodate, Niigata, Numazu), 13 companies, and 150 people from 8 countries participated, completing a total of 8,629 missions. In the participant survey, 88.5% answered that it was beneficial for regional revitalization, and over 90% answered that they 'want to visit' the target region.
Collaboration with the Hometown Resident Registration System The 'Hometown Resident Registration System' is a mechanism to register non-resident individuals interested in a region as 'hometown residents' to provide administrative information and opportunities for participation. GLOCAL AGENTS aims to build a system that connects users who have established contact with a region through games to this system, visualizing and nurturing them as continuous related populations.
Recruiting Pilot Partners GLOCAL AGENTS can design missions tailored to regional issues through collaboration with local governments, companies, tourism operators, and advertising agencies. With the beta launch, the company is widely recruiting pilot partners.
