Bank Rent-A-Car Co., Ltd., a group company of D&D Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Yoshinori Takemura), has acquired the direct-operated business of 'eemo,' an EV car-sharing service developed by REXEV, Inc.

'eemo' is a community-based EV car-sharing service that aims to provide sustainable transportation and the local production and consumption of energy. It maximizes the use of renewable energy generated within the region and serves as a 'regional emergency power source' in the event of a disaster.

Succession of the 'Energy x Mobility' Model Proven in Odawara City The direct-operated business acquired by Bank Rent-A-Car has primarily been developed in the western Kanagawa and Seisho areas, centered on Odawara City.

In Odawara City, a demonstration project linking EV car-sharing with regional energy supply and demand has been underway. This project verifies the potential of new regional energy infrastructure utilizing EVs, such as promoting the use of renewable energy and responding to tight power supply and demand.

Through this business succession, our group will develop EV car-sharing as a 'mobility service that plays a role in regional energy management.'

Evolution into a Business That Solves Regional Issues The D&D Group has previously worked toward realizing a sustainable society through CSR activities, including contributions to local communities and environmental initiatives.

Moving forward, we will evolve these efforts beyond mere social contribution activities. By establishing them as businesses that balance profitability with social impact and integrating them with our mobility business, we will create a business model that directly contributes to solving social issues such as energy, regional transportation, and tourism.

Building the 'Regional Co-Creation Model' Envisioned by the D&D Group In addition to mobility businesses such as car rentals and car-sharing, the D&D Group operates tourism, lodging, and regional collaboration businesses.

The DDL Division of our group company, D&D Management Co., Ltd., is currently considering initiatives in Furano City, Hokkaido, with an eye toward matching companies to solve regional issues.

Furthermore, we have endorsed the 'Zero Carbon Hokkaido' initiative promoted by Hokkaido Prefecture and are building a foundation for future regional cooperation, such as providing support through the corporate hometown tax donation program.

Against the backdrop of these efforts, we will promote the construction of a 'Regional Co-Creation Model'—a new form of regional revitalization—by cross-functionally linking the multifaceted business resources we possess: 'Energy (EV/Renewable Energy),' 'Movement (Mobility),' and 'Stay (Tourism/Lodging).'

Future Outlook The D&D Group will model the initiative of utilizing EV car-sharing as regional energy infrastructure and expand it while strengthening cooperation with local governments and regional companies across the country.

Furthermore, we will promote the horizontal expansion of this model to other regions, contributing to the construction of sustainable mobility and energy infrastructure nationwide, while also contributing to the realization of a sustainable mobility society and the revitalization of regional economies.
