DataHax Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Yohei Oishi), which operates DENNOU PARK, conducted a survey on AI coin parking targeting 314 individuals who use cars at least once a month.

In recent years, against the backdrop of challenges such as aging equipment and increasing facility management costs, the transition to parking lots utilizing cashless payments and AI cameras has accelerated. However, how do drivers, who actually use these parking lots, perceive these changes? Our company conducted a survey on parking usage to clarify the current situation of parking users.

<Survey Overview>

・Survey Period: March 25, 2026 (Wednesday) – March 31, 2026 (Tuesday) (*Conducted in FY2025)

・Number of Respondents: 314 people *Composition ratio is rounded to the second decimal place

The most common payment method at coin parking lots is "cash" (74.2%). However, over 80% of users support cashless payments.

While many users wish to pay cashless, it can be inferred that there are many parking lots that only accept cash payments, as QR code payments and credit cards are not available.

Over 90% of parking users have experienced trouble, with many experiencing payment-related issues.

There are cases where users had to go to a nearby convenience store to get change because the payment machine did not support the new 500-yen coin.

The high number of parking users who have experienced trouble, over 90%, indicates that payment-related issues are particularly common. This highlights a gap with the general trend of cashless society.

The utilization rate of AI (camera-based) parking increased by 10% from last year, exceeding 60%.

When asked, "Did you know there are AI parking lots without lock plates, gate bars, or payment machines?", 63.4% responded "Have used it," 16.9% responded "Know about it but haven't used it," and 19.7% responded "Didn't know." The recognition rate of AI parking is on the rise.

Approximately half of experienced users give positive responses. Over 50% of experienced users support "AI parking is better" for future use.

Here are some reasons for their responses:

【AI (camera-based) parking is better】

・I think camera-based parking offers better security in case of theft or car break-ins.

・The absence of lock plates and payment machine operations, allowing for smooth exit, is appealing. Not needing cash reduces payment troubles and the hassle of settlement, leading to time and stress reduction.

【Either is fine】

・I want to park as close and cheaply as possible to my destination, so either type of parking is fine.

【Traditional parking is better】

・While camera-based parking seems convenient, I'm worried about potential troubles with new systems, so I want to wait until it's more widespread before considering using it.

As the utilization rate and awareness of the convenience of AI parking further expand, the conventional norms of coin parking, such as "issuing parking tickets" and "cash payments," may change.

【What is DENNOU PARK?】

DENNOU PARK utilizes proprietary AI algorithms and cameras to recognize parked vehicles and manage entry/exit times and fees. It eliminates steps previously required in parking lots, such as "temporary stops at gates," "issuing parking tickets," and "payment at machines," achieving smart parking. Furthermore, DENNOU PARK can be operated with minimal equipment like AI cameras, allowing operators to open a parking lot at about half the cost of general parking systems.
